Sally Metcalfe is in court next week as she attends the pre-trial hearing for her fraud case, but things go badly wrong when she ends up representing herself and getting done for witness intimidation.
As the week begins, Sally is stunned when she finds herself in possession of a list of names that she soon discovers are witnesses for Duncan Radfield.
Wondering what to do with the information and feeling nervous about the upcoming hearing, she heads off to find daughter Sophie.
And find her she does, but she’s not prepared to catch her enjoying a bit of afternoon delight with Sally’s solicitor, Paula Cunliffe.
Stunned, Sally tells Paula she’s going to call one of the witnesses, even though Paula tells her that she’s likely to get herself into a tonne of trouble if she does.
A furious Sally fires Paula and then tells Sophie she doesn’t want her at the hearing either.
As Sally fills Tim in on what’s going on and that she’ll be representing herself in court, Tim’s left feeling very worried indeed.
Rightly so as it goes, when Sally arrives at court – with a nervous Tim and Gina – Imran is amused to see the former mayor of Weatherfield is representing herself.
Imran then goes in for the kill and tells the judge that Sally has been intimidating a witness.
Sally is horrified but has no defence for her actions and the judge decides that Sally needs to be held on remand.
Devastated, she calls Sophie and begs her to reinstate Paula as soon as possible.
Back at home a furious Tim rounds on Imran, blaming him for Sally’s incarceration.
When he tells Sally about his run in with the solicitor, Sally is upset, fearing he’s just made things worse for her.
Gina uses the opportunity to comfort Tim and tell him he’s done nothing wrong in defending his wife.
Will Sally get a get out of jail free card from Paula?
