Corrie SPOILER: Sean’s nightmare gets worse

He's forced to beg for money after being sacked from the Rovers

Sean Tully’s homeless nightmare steps up a gear next week when the down-on-his-luck barman loses his job at the Rovers Return.

With no money coming in, he’s forced to take to the streets with a begging cup, leaving him feeling depressed and humiliated.

It kicks off when Sean returns to work to find that Johnny and Jenny Connor have taken over the pub and have cut his hours without telling him.

Already wondering how he’ll make ends meet, he’s stunned when his homeless friend Frank turns up at the Rovers.

Desperate to get rid of him before he blows Sean’s homeless secret, Sean tells him to head round the back and he’ll bring him a free drink.

But Sean is caught red-handed by Jenny helping himself to vodka and, when he can’t offer an explanation, she sacks him on the spot.

Later Eileen spots his dishevelled state and after hearing he’s lost his job she takes him for lunch and asks him where he’s living.

Too full of pride to admit the truth, Sean tells her he’s staying with friends in town and is having a ball.

Sean is mortified as he heads back to the homeless community at the rec where his friend Carol tells him that he should start begging in order to get some money together.

He’s devastated as, wrapped in his sleeping bag, he sits in a shop doorway with a cup.

Later, he’s almost caught out when he heads to the hospital with his begging cup only to spot Billy and Rana arriving.

Sean quickly scarpers but with Eileen voicing her concerns over Sean to Fiz, will he be able to keep the fact he’s hit rock bottom to himself for much longer?

Sean was recently seen being attacked after flashing his pub wages around in front of Carol, but fans were quick to point out that the heartbreaking storyline is full of plotholes.

While the ITV soap has been applauded for attempting to tackle the worrying issue of homelessness, it has been accused of not being realistic enough.

Poor Sean has fallen on hard times of late – he was kicked out of his home and has no money to find somewhere else to live.

Now homeless, skint and too proud to ask for help, he’s living in a small tent on the Red Rec. So how does he always look so immaculate, Corrie fans have been asking?

Sean still visits the cobbles regularly and always manages to scrub up nicely – with no one noticing anything irregular.

In fact, during last night’s episode, Sean’s shirt looked perfectly ironed as he pulled pints behind the bar at the Rover’s Return.

Fans have also noticed that his hair is still super short and he’s well groomed.

While some have even wondered how he’s affording to buy wet wipes to clean himself…

One viewer said: “Sean is living in a tent on the Red Rec, yet has perfectly ironed clothes, hair isn’t out of place, and he’s got clear clean skin…”

Another asked: “Sean may be homeless but he’s had a haircut. I wonder if he smells?”

A third said: “He should be scruffy looking and unshaven we should be shown how he manages to keep himself and clothes clean and why doesn’t he STINK. This ain’t homelessness he should be going to day centres getting help food to eat etc very lazy research work here I’m sorry.”

Another incredulous viewer couldn’t believe Sean would “wave cash around” when money was so tight.

Fans watched uncomfortable scenes this week as Sean was beaten up and had his wages robbed by two thugs.

He was found slumped outside a public toilet by his new friend Carol, who rushed him to A&E.

While there, Sean swallowed his pride and admitted to the doctors that he’s homeless.
