Simon Barlow fears he could be in danger yet again next week when his dad Peter suspends bully Tyler’s mum, Vicky, from the factory.
Vicky is pushing Peter’s buttons all week by winding up the machinists – and seemingly enjoying it.
Peter wishes he could just fire her but he knows he can’t – for Simon’s sake. He’s already seen what Tyler and his gang are capable of when they shot him with paint gun, threatening it would be the real thing next time.
But as the week goes on Vicky oversteps the mark when she keeps goading pregnant Sinead.
Peter bans the use of all mobile phones from the factory and when Sinead – who is waiting from a call from the hospital about her biopsy results – takes a call, Vicky grasses her up and tries to grab her phone.
Vicky and Sinead end up fighting and Peter has no choice but to suspend both of them, to Sinead’s horror.
Later Peter finds himself having to insist to his brother Daniel that he had no choice but to suspend Sinead.
But it’s Simon who really gives it to him in the neck – when he tells Simon that he’s suspended Vicky, his son panics.
He’s utterly horrified and worries that Tyler will make his life hell.
Is he right? And what can Peter do to make things right with his son?
Corrie fans weren’t impressed with scenes last month after the dramatic shooting promised proved to be anything but.
Spoiler pictures had been released showing one of the gang members taking aim at Peter Barlow with a hand gun.
The dramatic shots were accompanied by words promising horror as Peter was shot in the chest by the evil thugs.
But things didn’t play out that way. As Simon Barlow was left terrified in the factory with the gang tormenting him, Peter raced over to protect his son.
And as he got there a car rolled past slowly with one of the gang holding a gun out of the window and taking aim.
Peter looked horrified as the trigger was pulled and he was soon covered with blood red liquid on his chest.
However, he told a terrified Carla Connor: “It’s paint, it’s just a paint gun.”
The scene was a let-down, and viewers were furious, flocking to social media to share their views.
One wrote: “A paint gun? Seriously!? Fail. #Corrie”
A second commented: ““ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! A PAINT GUN??
nother tweeted: “All that wait for it being a paint gun that shot barlow haha cheers #Corrie”
A fourth wrote: “A paint gun! They really made this out to be more than it was #Corrie”
However, the paint gun drama wasn’t over, with Simon receiving a text at the end of the episode with a new threat from the gang.
The text read: “Next time, it’ll be a real bullet.” Could Peter have put his son in the firing line?
