Coronation Street’s Sinead Tinker will be forced into agonising decisions about the future of her pregnancy after being diagnosed with cervical cancer, a newspaper reports.
According to The Sun, the Underworld factory machinist (played by Katie McGlynn) will conceal the deadly condition from boyfriend Daniel Osbourne as he secretly plans their wedding.
Sinead’s devastating diagnosis has terrifying echoes of the illness that claimed the life of Corrie icon Alma Halliwell.
Former cafe owner and ex of Mike’s Baldwin Alma – played by Amanda Barrie – swiftly succumbed to cervical cancer in 2001.

And in a desperately sad twist with potentially life-threatening consequences, it emerges Sinead chooses to ignore symptoms for some time before finding out the bad news.
Treatment could risk the life of her unborn child and so she will be faced with the decision of whether or not to have an abortion.
But having already terminated a previous pregnancy after being manipulated by Daniel’s dad Ken Barlow, it seems the couple’s baby misery will only get worse.
That abortion almost ended the relationship with Daniel for good and saw Sinead go back to her longtime love Chesney Brown last year before that reunion – and wedding – fell apart.

With Sinead expecting with Daniel again, the couple’s future life together finally seems to have cleared the hurdles of their past.
But she is unable to stop worrying after seeing Daniel share an intimate chat over wine with his former lover Carla Connor.
He steps in to smooth matters over with Sinead’s boss – and reveals their baby news – after the knicker maker is caught using offcuts of material to mend Cathy Matthews’ coat.
Jealous Sinead mistakes a grateful kiss on Carla’s cheek as evidence that something is going on again between Daniel and Carla, confronting her employer in the office at work.
But when Sinead starts bleeding, it is clear all is not as it should be with her pregnancy. Will the baby survive?
It is believed Sinead’s cancer battle will be a long-running fixture in upcoming episodes of the ITV soap.
Corrie chiefs are said to be working with cancer charities to ensure the emotional storyline is as accurate as possible after the depiction of Alma’s illness was criticised when it was aired.
Concerned fans blasted the much-loved character’s deterioration and eventual passing as being ‘too rushed’.
