Dancing On Ice has signed up Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant for next year’s series.
The news was announced on today’s installment of This Morning (Tuesday, September 22) by Sharon Marshall.
Joe appeared on the ITV talk show through video call for the announcement.
Although his alter ego Jacob will be off-screen, Joe explained what is happening to Jacob whilst he’s training and competing.
He revealed Jacob is going to Portugal for six months to visit his mum Alicia and will be taking a job there. However Jacob will be back!

Joe is the second contestant to be announced for the show.
Yesterday (Monday, September 21) it was confirmed that Myleene Klass will be participating in the new series.
The former Hear’Say singer her daughters begged her to do it.

She tweeted: “Guess who won’t be holding the coats by the side of the rink anymore! My girls have been begging me to do @dancingonice. I’ve always been scared my piano fingers will get sliced off!
“Anyway I want to make them proud, show them I’m up for a challenge and try for a bum like Jlo.”

Dancing On Ice – Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant
Joe joined the cast of ITV soap in 2010 as Jacob Gallagher.
The 18-year old isn’t the first Emmerdale star to take to the ice.
In 2010, Hayley Tamaddon, who played Del Dingle, won Dancing On Ice series five. And in 2012, Joe’s TV dad Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe, also won the show.
Who else will be participating in Dancing On Ice 2021?
It hasn’t been confirmed who the other contestants are. However over the weekend, Dancing On Ice dropped hints as to who would be taking to the ice.
Alongside a picture showing parts of cour celebrities, the tweet read: “The greatest show on ice is back! But which celebs will be skating their way onto your screens? Here’s a few clues…”

Fans have guessed Denise Van Outen will be taking part.
It has been rumoured Denise has signed up to the show. She reportedly clinched a £40,000 deal.
The 46-year-old was one of a number of stars who recently auditioned for the next series of the show.

Meanwhile other stars said to have auditioned include Wayne Bridge, 40, Dr Alex George, 27 and Vicki Michelle, 69.
In addition Olympians Denise Lewis, 47 and Mark Foster, 50, have reportedly signed up.
Darts star Fallon Sherlock, 26 and former Love Island star Luke Trotman, 23, will also be taking part according to reports.
