Dominic Treadwell-Collins has called for the Women’s World Cup to be moved for EastEnders rather than the soap making way for the “bloody football”.
The soap’s schedule has changed once again this evening (Monday July 1), and has suffered several moves in recent weeks.
At the weekend it was claimed EastEnders had suffered it’s lowest ever ratings, and an EastEnders spokesperson said the Women’s World cup was to blame for the last minute schedule changes, and they were “confident” loyal fans would watch on catch up service iPlayer.
Now former show boss Dom has tweeted to say he believes the programme is on fire at the moment following a “fallow period”, but he is disappointed to see the BBC One soap’s schedule recently disrupted due to the football tournament taking priority.
Every time #EastEnders starts to rebuild its viewers’ loyalty after a fallow period, it’s moved around in the schedules for the bloody football. Move the football around #EastEnders. It’s en fuego at the moment. https://t.co/pRWoQHbhwt

Dominic is happy the soap “is back”, and admitted he and his team always put the hours in to try to ensure the show was successful.
He wrote: “We worked very hard and made sure we had fun doing it! So happy Enders is back.”

Former EastEnders writer Leo Richardson tweeted: “Dom is a bloody genius and had such a clear vision. We all knew exactly what he wanted so it was easy. When that’s right, it works! So happy to hear it’s doing well again!”
EastEnders’ schedule changed again last Friday (June 28) when France v USA aired instead, after two episodes aired last Tuesday (June 25) and the Friday ep was shown on Thursday (June 27).

There are two visits to Walford scheduled for tonight (Monday July 1) rather than the usual one – once at 8pm and again at 9pm.
There is no EastEnders tomorrow (Tuesday July 2) when England take on USA.
But some EastEnders fans will be pleased to hear the Women’s World Cup final is to take place on Sunday (July 7) so things should return to normal for the summer – we hope!
