Dr Ali Neeson shocked Coronation Street fans to the core when he murdered drug dealer Ronan Truman.
The previously squeaky-clean son of Michelle Connor kicked a man when he was down, by pulling out a wooden stake that had been lodged in his torso during a car crash – and the doctor knew it would cause him to bleed out.

Although the bloodthirsty act was totally out of character for Ali, could he have developed a taste for murder?
After all, Weatherfield is lacking a resident serial killer now that Pat Phelan is gone…
(The jury is out on whether Tracy Barlow counts… While she DID murder Charlie Stubbs and served time for the crime, she was also the unintentional cause of Maddie Heath and Kal Nazir’s deaths and the car crash that led to Ronan’s murder and nearly killed Ryan Connor and Leanne Battersby).

In a new interview with James Burrows, who plays Ali, the actor teases a menacing side to his character…
Future spoilers tell us that the doctor will soon turn violent towards his ‘brother’ Ryan.
And, in quotes printed in The Sun, James admits that it’s entirely possible that Ali could eventually cross the line once again.
He said: “He’s not coping very well at the minute. I don’t know what they’ve got planned for me in the future, but I’d like to say Ali could put the murder to the back of his mind and move forward.
“But who knows with Coronation Street? I might be going back there and they’ll tell me I’m the new Phelan.”
A handsome killer on the loose… Well, it worked for Jamie Dornan in The Fall!
James insists that his alter-ego killed the first time with the best intentions to protect his family.
But, let’s face it, the act was still massively wrong.
He said: “Ali did this for the right reasons, and I’d say that, in real life, if one of my friends killed someone because they were protecting their own, if they were protecting their family, that’s how it goes, isn’t it?
“I’d probably shake their hand.”
The star is currently taking a break from the ITV soap after recently announcing that he’s going to be welcoming a baby with his girlfriend Sophie Coates.
On screen, Ali will be lying low after Ryan threatens to expose his secret to the police.
