Adam Bateman, played by Stephen Rahman-Hughes, arrives in Albert Square and establishes himself as the new local dentist. But don’t let that put you off!

It’s soon revealed that Adam already has links to the area – he’s distantly related to Masood.

Adam will be reunited with his foster parents Mariam and Arshad Ahmed, when he settles in Walford later this summer.

In fact, actor Stephen has already been on set filming scenes and will appear on-screen in the not-too-distant future.

And it’s Minute Mart worker Honey who catches his eye…

Last year, she separated from husband Billy after he cheated on her with Tina Carter…

But he still hopes for a reunion. Will the arrival of Adam be the final nail in the coffin for their doomed marriage?

Speaking of his new role, he told The Sun: “I’m so thrilled to be joining an incredible cast on such an iconic show, which I’ve grown up watching. It really is a dream come true!”

Show boss John Yorke said: “We are all delighted to welcome Stephen to the cast of EastEnders.

“Adam will create a big impression on Honey when she first meets him and with links to the Square in Mariam and Arshad.”

Meanwhile, a soap insider told the newspaper: “He’s the perfect catch – suave, sophisticated and with a dazzling smile, this well-respected professional will do anything for anyone.

“When Honey needs emergency dental care, he is quickly on hand and as sparks fly in the dentist chair the pair soon end up going on a date.”

Soap fans might recognise Stephen… He previously played the recurring role of DCI Vikesh Dasari in Emmerdale, who was involved in the investigation into Tom King’s murder.

The actor has also appeared in Doctors, Dream Team and Bad Girls.

He’s also sung on stage with Lee Mead.
