Calum ‘Halfway’ Highway isn’t a very happy lad at the moment.
He’s just split up with his girlfriend Whitney, even though he still loves her (long story) and he’s just rejected his sinister, manipulative bully for a brother (even longer story).
But EastEnders fans haven’t cut him any slack at all. Not at all.

Despite the poor boy having a rough time, they’ve called him up on the way he dresses.
Well, one thing really – his bobble hat!
Yes, readers, it IS August in the middle of one of the hottest summers on record. Ever.
And Halfway is rarely seen without his woolly cap.

Admittedly, scenes are shot several weeks in advance, but the UK has been enjoying hot weather for MONTHS. (Can we have a breeze now please?)
During Tuesday’s episode (7 August), Halfway became concerned for his brother after receiving a worrying message on his phone.
Despite finally seeing him for the creepy sneak he really is in scenes last week, Halfway proved that he can’t cut off his feelings for his big bro, even if he is a very unpleasant man.
Disturbed to think his brother might have harmed himself, he and Shirley went over to his flat only to find it abandoned.
While Halfway searched in the local hotspots – i.e. the pub – Shirley found a disturbing photo where Halfway’s face had been scratched out…
As the action unfolded, however, viewers had one burning question for Halfway.
Just WHY is he wearing winter head gear in the middle of summer?
