EastEnders fans were reminded of a long-forgotten character last night – and now have hope that she’ll return to Walford.
Jack Branning’s daughter Penny – remember her? – was mentioned on Thursday (4 October) when Ray threatened Jack in a dramatic showdown.

In a bid to prove he knows EVERYTHING about his adversary, Ray told Jack during a heated exchange: “Your last trip abroad was Paris to see your daughter Penny. Terrible what happened.”
He snarled: “All because Daddy annoyed the wrong people. Still, I believe you can live a very full life in a wheelchair.”

He added: “See, I can find out anything about you Jack. I might already know something.
“So it’s really, really not a good idea to draw my attention. You never know what I’m going to come across about you!”
Viewers know that Jack’s daughter Penny suffered severe spinal injuries after a drug dealer deliberately ran her over to spite Jack, who was a corrupt cop.
She hasn’t been seen since 2008, when she moved to France with her mum Selina.

The reference to the cause of Penny's accident is interesting, I doubt Ray got that info from police sources. The enforced retirement and corruption would be would easy to find out about though #EastEnders

Penny was played by actress Mia McKenna-Bruce, who went on to star in Doctors and children shows Tracy Beaker and The Dumping Ground.
The actress is now 21, and could be heading to Walford in the future. And she looks just like Hunter’s type…
