EastEnders’ Kat and Hayley relive one of soap’s most iconic scenes ever!

Remember one of the most famous scenes in Walford's history...?

EastEnders fans nearly wet themselves with excitement last night, when Kat Slater relived one of the soap’s most iconic moments – if not THE most iconic moment ever.

In scenes shown on Thursday (8 November), Kat was trying to do the right thing by Hayley and her newborn by persuading her to stay the hell away from her evil mum Bev.

Reunited with her baby after trying to abandon it on a doorstep, Hayley was torn between going home with the Slaters and her foul mother Bev – the phrase rock and a hard place comes to mind.

After taking the little one to the hospital, the rest of the family turned up and tried desperately to get Hayley to act like the mother they think she can be.

During the tense scenes, Hayley shouted at Kat: “You’re not my mother!”

The line was reminiscent of the pivotal moment in EastEnders history when Kat’s ‘secret’ daughter Zoe shouted at Kat in the Street: “You ain’t my mother.”

And Kat, who Zoe thought was her sister, shouted back: “Yes I am.”

The scene still sends shivers down the spines of fans, and immediately became one of the most famous dialogues in TV history.

Fans were thrilled with the exchange and the apparent tribute to the historic scene from 2001.

One said: “‘You ain’t my muvva’ omg.”

Another added: “‘You’re not my mother.’ Classic Slater banter. Oh, how I love you #Eastenders.”

A third said: “Missed an opportunity for a surprise ‘yes I am’.”

Some fans even willed Kat to reply: “Yes I am.”

One joked: “‘You’re not my mother’ I thought Kat was gonna scream ‘YES I AM!'”

Sadly for Hayley, she didn’t choose to go home with the Slater family – possibly because, in the back of her mind, she knows the child is Alfie Moon’s.

And things are set to get a lot darker for the new mum in upcoming scenes, and Bev plots to SELL the baby.
