The discovery comes on the night of the unlikely duo’s restaurant launch and Ian holds them both to blame as the event descends into chaos and it’s all caught by the Walford Gazette.
To be fair it’s easy to understand why Ian’s cross.
First Masood had a fling with his estranged wife Jane and now he’s putting the moves on his mum. That’s more than enough to push most people’s buttons.
Poor Ian is doing his best to keep everyone happy at the launch when he walks into the kitchen and spies Kathy and Masood eating each other’s faces off.
Later, Ian sits alone in the restaurant, his dreams of a wildly successful night in tatters and he fully holds Mas and Kathy responsible.
After getting himself even more wound up, Ian decides to hit the Square and take revenge on Masood, which sounds like a terrible idea.
When he’s finished with that, he heads back to the house and packs all Kathy’s bags before informing her that he no longer requires her presence in his home.
A stunned Kathy shuffles off out of the house, leaving Ian alone with his thoughts.
Later in the week Ian begins to meddle in the cafe leaving Kathy frustrated when he refuses to talk to her.
She decides to play him at his own game and they finally have a heart-to-heart.
