Next week’s EastEnders sees Max and Rainie’s custody battle for baby Abi take a sudden nosedive, leaving desperate Max to try and kidnap his own granddaughter.
The couple are stunned when they get a letter from Cora’s solicitor revealing not only does she know their marriage is a sham, but that she’s also discovered Rainie and Jack slept together.
Max is fuming when he reads the letter, and any doubt he might have over whether his wife would cheat on him with is brother vanishes when the look of guilt on Rainie’s face confirms everything.

Rainie tries to apologise to Max, explaining what happened. But Max doesn’t want to hear it, convinced her night with Jack has now cost them any chance of winning custody of baby Abi.
Deciding to deny everything in front of Cora, Max and Rainie confront her and a huge fight breaks out between the trio at The Vic.
Thankfully Stacey Slater, the one person who seems to be able to get though to Max, is on hand to offer some advice and after taking on board what his ex has to say, Max goes to check on little Abi, who is over at the Beales’.
But once where, he finds Rainie trying to apologise to her mother, an olive branch that is shoved back in her face.
All hell breaks loose as Cora lashes out at her daughter, leaving her injured and needing medical attention in hospital.
But instead of helping his wife in her moment of need, Max has other things on his mind. While everyone’s attention is on Rainie, Max seizes the moment and scoops up little Abi before making a swift exit.
Of course, you can’t just kidnap your own granddaughter and get away with it, so while Max is gathering all of Abi’s things, the police turn up and take Abi away, leaving him totally devastated.
Has Max’s moment of madness just cost his an entire lifetime with his granddaughter? Or will Cora’s attack on Rainie end up working in their favour?
While in hospital recovering from Cora’s violent outburst, Rainie is given time to think and realises that she has messed up again.
Wanting to make things right with Max, she promises that she will press charges against her mother in the hope it will make her seem unfit to look after the baby.

But Max still isn’t going to forgive Rainie for what she did. Even when Ian confesses he won’t be supporting Cora’s application for custody after she hit Rainie, the good news isn’t enough to put a smile on the grandad’s face.
Will Rainie be able to put things right before they lose Abi for good?
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
