Bernadette Taylor hasn’t had much luck in the romance department recently, not only is her love for best friend Tiffany Butcher unrequited, but her attempts at online dating also ended in disaster.
But next week it seems things could be finally looking up for the teenager when she lands herself a surprise date.
With Tiffany still recovering from her harrowing ordeal at the hands of Evie and the drug gang, she decides to make up for lost time by hanging out with best friend Bernie next week.
But as the girls watch Keegan Baker playing football with his half sister Bailey, the pair are interrupted by the arrival of Bailey’s schoolfriend, Alyssa.

However, it isn’t Alyssa who catches everyone’s attention, it is her older sister Brooke… and it doesn’t take Tiffany long to realise there is a spark between Bernie and Brooke.
Knowing an instant connection when she sees one, Tiffany decides to play cupid and the pair swap numbers.
But the following day Bernie is fretting over messaging Brooke, and it is up to Tiffany to encourage her to secure a date.

Bernie is excited as the day of the date arrives and Tiffany helps her best friend get ready.
As Bernie arrives at Walford East to meet Brooke, she is touched to see Tiffany and Keegan are already there to offer their moral support.
What’s more, Brooke has also turned up for the date, which is an improvement on last time Bernadette had a date at the restaurant and the woman she was supposed to be meeting bailed at the last minute.
The date goes well and Brooke is quick to point out how well Tiffany and Keegan seem to get on, making Bernie realise that it is time for her to move forward and leave her feelings for Tiffany in the past.
Could this be a new romance for Bernie?
It’s about time she had some happiness, but will Brooke be the one to put a smile on her face?
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
