There is heartache heading for EastEnders‘ Jean Slater next week when she gets life-changing news.
Jean has been fighting the battle of her life ever since being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. But next week sees a new twist in her storyline that no one will see coming.
Jean and Kat are thrilled to see Martin Fowler is home, but their happiness is short-lived when they realise Stacey isn’t with him.
But that’s not the only heartache Jean is facing next week, because she later gets the news that her friend Daniel has died, and she is left reeling.

Poor Jean has been growing closer to Daniel in recent weeks, having got off to a bad start after they met in the chemotherapy room a few months back.
But while Jean has fought to stay positive throughout her treatment, Daniel has always been a cup half empty kind of person and told Jean that without any loved ones to live for, he was losing the will to fight.
However, it seems next week his fight is over when the news of his sudden demise reaches Jean.
But despite this latest death twist in her storyline, Jean puts on a brave face as she always does and everyone is worried about her complacent reaction.
Kush talks to Jean and makes her realise how much Daniel meant to her, and before long the reality of what has happened to her friend hits Jean.
But things only get tougher for Jean when later in the week she is faced with the upsetting task of going to Daniel’s memorial to pay her final respects.

Kush supports Jean through the difficult day, and the service, which is hosted by Daniel’s neighbour Mike, goes well.
But how will Jean move forward knowing that she won’t have Daniel by her side, offering his unique support and comfort?
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
