EastEnders star Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, has revealed his grandad has died.
The actor shared the sad news to his followers on Instagram.

He wrote: “Hi all. On Monday evening I lost my grandad to his battle with cancer. In his weeks he was overwhelmed by the amazing love and care the @macmillancancer nurses provided him with.
“For that reason I am reposting my longest day challenge website in the hopes of raising more money for them. Please give generously if you can. Thank you.”
Max then shared a link where people can donate money to Macmillan.
Max’s friends and fans all commented sending their love.

Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler in the BBC soap, wrote: “Love you Max x.”
One follower commented; “Sorry for your loss xx.”
A second said: “Love to you and your family.”
A third wrote: “I’m so sorry for your loss Max, sending you our best wishes from Falmouth. Take care.”

Max has previously spoke about his family in interviews and on social media. He has revealed he is especially close with his nan.
Back in January, the actor took her to to the National Television Awards. During an interview with Lorraine Kelly he called his nan ‘his world’.
In March, Max also explained that he hadn’t seen his nan in a month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
EastEnders: Returning to screens
Earlier this year, due to the pandemic EastEnders suspended production. As the show ran out of episodes, the soap was off air for two months.

However in September the popular BBC soap returned to screens. In recent weeks, viewers have seen Ben get caught up in his dad’s crimes.
He was recently arrested regarding the warehouse robbery which took place before lockdown. But Ben’s boyfriend Callum, who recently joined the police, has been roped in to helping take down Ben’s dad, Phil.

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8.05pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.35pm and Fridays at 8.30pm on BBC One.
