As the two looked back, Mitch felt guilty for not being there for Chanterelle growing up. He told Karen that he never should’ve left her and the two ended up slowly moving in for a kiss.

Of course, at the moment actors can’t actually kiss. So the shot was done using perspex glass to make it look like the two were having an intimate moment.

But some fans weren’t impressed with the socially-distanced kiss.

EastEnders: Socially distanced kiss

Karen and Mitch’s kiss wasn’t the only socially distanced kiss in the show last night.

That was a funny kiss between Karen and Mitch.

In the episode, Stuart and Rainie’s wedding day didn’t quite go to plan when Stuart ended up getting locked in the hearse.

As they missed their wedding, they decided to get married on the Square with Stuart still locked in the car.

When they were told they were married, the two ended up kissing with the car window in between them.

EastEnders: What’s next for Karen and Mitch?

As Karen and Mitch started kissing, Chantelle’s husband Gray walked in on them.

Later this week Mitch will be left devastated when Gray turns the tables on him.

The solicitor tells Mitch that he was a terrible father to Chantelle, leaving Mitch devastated.

But what Mitch doesn’t know is that Gray is trying to cover his own guilt, as he is the one who killed Chantelle and staged her death to look like an accident.

Will the truth about Gray’s abuse towards Chantelle ever come out?
