| Updated:

EastEnders had viewers in floods of tears last night as it showed Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) saying a last goodbye to her mum and dad.

During Thursday (September 17) evening’s episode of the BBC soap, the hairdresser had to leave her parents because her house had been broken into.

What happened with Chantelle and her parents in EastEnders?

In a bid to not be alone with her abusive husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith), the mum of two questioned why they had to go back.

“What’s the point? By the time we’re back, whoever was there would have been gone by now.”

Gray insisted that they return. He told her: “We have been robbed.”

Still hoping to get away, Chantelle asked her mum Karen (Lorraine Stanley) about her kids.

But lawyer Gray said: “I think we should handle this together. Who knows what they could have taken? The kids want to go home, they’re scared. The film didn’t help. Come on.”

Chantelle’s dad, Mitch (Roger Griffiths), noticed a tension. He offered his daughter a lifeline, telling her: “Baby, if you want to stay, just say. I’m sure Gray will be okay on his own.”

Unfortunately, Chantelle left with her husband – but not before turning to Karen and Mitch and saying goodbye to them both.

Mitch called, as she left: “Drive safe, baby!”

Viewers were in floods of tears. They know that last night’s instalment was Chantelle’s penultimate episode. In tonight’s, Gray kills her.
