Emmerdale aired heartbreaking scenes for Liv Flaherty tonight after she overdosed on alcohol in prison. But will she die?
The teen is banged up for a crime she didn’t commit and has been abandoned by her entire family.
Given she has a serious alcohol problem anyway, it’s little wonder she’s turned to her crutch for emotional support.
But upsetting scenes tonight (Thursday, December 9) saw it had all gone too far and has left the question: Will Liv die?

What has driven Liv back to drink in Emmerdale?
Life in prison is taking its toll on Liv after she was denied bail when charged with killing Ben Tucker.
Of course, viewers know Liv is innocent and it was in fact Meena who murdered him, but her family believe she did it in an alcohol haze.
Liv sadly was so drunk she can’t remember anything about that night, so is struggling to prove her innocence.
Although brother Aaron doesn’t know what to believe, he has skipped town, unable to cope with his grief and support his sister. His departure has hit Chas Dingle hard and she has thrown the blame at Liv.
She visited Liv in prison and told her never to call the family again. In very harsh scenes Chas told her: “You, lady, are dead to me.”
To top it off, Liv’s only remaining supporter, Vinny Dingle, is now also off the visitor’s list.
Mandy went to see Liv and told her to cut Vinny off for his own good and Liv decided to do it. Vinny is distraught and furious at his mum, swearing he’ll never forgive her.
But as for poor Liv, she now feels she has absolutely no one and nothing.
How did Liv get alcohol in prison?
Liv’s cellmate, Mel, has taken her under her wing and is trying to help her find her way inside.
When she told Liv she could ask her for anything at all she needed, Liv said: “I’m asking now. Begging.”
Liv then explained she needed alcohol to get her through.
Of course, being in prison means it’s not readily available and you can’t just pop out and buy some vodka. However, Mel managed to get her hands on some special home brew.
From the top bunk, Mel told her: “Just make sure that you’re taking the tiniest of sips, it’s brewed for maximum buzz and minimum sippage.”
When Liv didn’t respond, Mel said: “You’re not sulky are you, because it’s home brew? Because vodka is child’s play in comparison to this stuff.”
But it soon became clear Liv wasn’t sulking…
Does Liv die in Emmerdale?
Mel found her unconscious in her bed with the empty bottle beside her.
She tried to wake Liv up, but the teen began convulsing and vomiting violently. Mel was unable to get her to regain consciousness.
As Mel banged on the door to get the prison wardens she screamed: “Help me! She’s dying in here.”
Emmerdale has not confirmed whether Liv will survive the alcohol poisoning, but if she doesn’t what a sad sad end after suffering such injustice.
