Emmerdale fans demand an Oscar for Monty the dog after Lisa’s heartbreaking death scenes

Lisa died on her wedding day

Viewers of Emmerdale cried their eyes out last night, when matriarch Lisa Dingle died just minutes after getting married.

On Thursday (May 23), after a beautiful wedding ceremony to love-of-her-life Zak Dingle, Lisa and her family enjoyed the reception at The Woolpack.

However, as the congregation danced the conga, Lisa had quietly passed away at home after returning to get changed.

Soaps fans were in bits when Zak came to check on her and found her dead on the sofa.

The beautifully understated scene saw Zak break down in tears when he realised his wife had finally succumbed to the heart condition that she knew would kill her.

When he realised the awful truth that she had died, he broke down, sobbing: “Nooo, this is too soon, Lisa.”

However Zak and Lisa were not alone at home – Monty the dog was, as always, their faithful companion.

And his little canine face broke fans’ hearts even harder, with some calling for the dog to win an Oscar for his performance.

One wrote: “That dog in Emmerdale is making it worse that Lisa has died – its wee face! That dog deserves a National Television award!!”

Another said: “That close-up of Monty looking up at Lisa was amazing @Emmerdale.”

A third added: “Oh look at Monty looking at Lisa too! My heart is melting #Emmerdale.”

“Monty stole the show,” said another, while one more said: “Monty the dog had me in tears.”

“That dog deserves an Oscar,” declared one emotional fan.

Viewers know that Monty has been an integral part of the Dingle family for years, so it was only fitting that he was beside Lisa’s side when she died.

Rest in peace Lisa Dingle.
