Her fellow villagers – and those watching at home – were shocked to hear she had decided to start life anew.
Unable to continue living alongside neighbours who believed Frank was guilty of starting the factory fire, she decide to move away to Newcastle.
Megan explained that she wanted to enrol her daughter Eliza in a school near Newcastle, which is dedicated to teaching children who have cerebral palsy.

Her dad Jai was heartbroken to hear Eliza was leaving.
As he put Eliza in the cab, he told her: “I’m going to speak to you every day and I’m going to visit you lots and lots. But, for now, I need you to look after mummy for me.”
Meanwhile, Megan agreed to hand the reigns of the wedding business over to Leyla Harding.
Viewers were sad to see Megan exit in such sad circumstances, with one tweeting: “Good luck for the future, it’s a shame Megan and Frank couldn’t have had a happy ever after.”
Another wrote: “So sad to see you go!! I’ll miss Megan on our screens, but wishing you THE BEST in your departure from the Dales.”
A third added: “Gutted you’ve left. Hope Megan makes a return one day soon.”
“Oh no I didn’t know you were leaving!” cried one more. “I really like Megan!”

Gaynor Faye’s character first appeared in February 2012.
The 48-year-old announced she was leaving the soap last May, admitting she’d “naturally met the point where I want to do some other stuff”.
Gaynor said goodbye to her fans via Twitter, posting: “Bye bye Emmerdale. It’s been a blast. I’ve had some incredible storylines, worked with an amazing crew and made some wonderful friends.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom heart.”
After she finished filming on the ITV soap, Gaynor was cast in the new Band of Gold stage tour and will appear in the show alongside Hollyoaks‘ Kieron Richardson, former EastEnders star Laurie Brett and ex-Corrie actor Shayne Ward.
The play is an adaptation of her mum Kay Mellor’s drama Band of Gold.
