Emmerdale fans sob as Ross Barton leaves the village

The fan favourite finally exited the village night and seemed to get his happy ending

Emmerdale viewers have been left emotional after Ross Barton left the village.

The fan-favourite mechanic decided too much had happened for him to have any kind of happy future in the village and left for a new life in Liverpool.

However he didn’t leave alone as girlfriend Rebecca White decided to go with him after Robert Sugden gave her his blessing to take baby Seb with them.

After agreeing to shared custody of their son Moses with Charity Dingle, Ross was given a warm send-off by everyone in the village.

He even made up with Debbie Dingle, the woman who accidentally caused him to be scarred with acid.

The rare happy ending for Ross and Rebecca, who had been through hell in the village, had viewers in tears.

One wrote: “@MikeParrActor i just did a little cry over Ross leaving Emmerdale!! #gutted #tellytotty”

A second crying fan said: “Ross leaving @emmerdale is the saddest thing #Emmerdale Good luck @MikeParrActor xx”

Another tweeted: “Oh my god…im an emotional wreck watching Ross leave @emmerdale”

A fourth added: “Crying at last nights emmerdale. Love Ross so much and Rebecca at least there’s finally been a happy ending I guess.”

Actor Mike Parr, who quit as Ross after five years in the role, thanked fans for all their support over the years as he confirmed his happy exit in a backstage video.

“So that is a wrap on Ross,” he said in the goodbye video posted to the soap’s Instagram account.

“A big thank you to all the fans for tuning in.

“I hope you’ve all enjoyed watching it as much as I’ve enjoyed playing it.

“It’s been five wonderful years, the best years of my life. I’m sad to go.

“I may be back one day, you never know but for now it’s over and out for Ross.”
