Emmerdale has addressed the speculation that Robert Sugden will be returning to the soap.
In 2019, Robert was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 14 years.
Earlier that year, Robert’s sister Victoria was raped by Lee Posner. Lee denied raping Victoria and began to harass her.
Robert ended up losing his temper and hit Lee over the head with a shovel. Lee later died in hospital.
However recently Lee’s brother, Luke, who is now dating Victoria, confessed to his mum Wendy that he and Lee got into a fight just before Robert hit Lee over the head.
In 2019 Lee discovered Luke had been dating a man and began to beat him up. Luke pushed his brother off him and Lee ended up falling and hitting his head.
Lee was unconscious but soon got up and left and was later hit by Robert.

After discovering the new information, Wendy went to see solicitor Ethan and told him what happened with Lee and Luke, wanting to know if it could reduce Robert’s sentence.
However an Emmerdale spokesperson has told Digital Spy there are no plans for him to return.
They said: “There are no current plans for the character of Robert to return.”
