There’s potential heartache heading for Moira Barton next week when Matty goes in for his life-changing surgery and things appear to not go to plan.
Emmerdale fans will know that Moira has already been through the pain of losing a child when daughter Holly died of a drugs overdose back in September 2016.
And it has been hinted that history might be repeating itself next week when Matty goes into surgery for the next stage of his transition process and things don’t go to plan.

Matty made the huge decision to get his name on the surgery waiting list at the start of the year after he was brutally attacked by ex boyfriend Isaac Nuttall and his friends.
Feeling down after the attack, Matty decided he needed to learn how to defend himself and started a tough training routine… only for him to push himself too far and collapse.
Realising that surgery would help him move on with his life, Matty booked himself an appointment, but as the date of his surgery gets closer, Matty can’t hide his worries about what lies ahead.
As Matty is taken into surgery, emotions are running high in the Barton family.
Not only is Matty worrying about what the future holds now that he is finally going through with the life-changing surgery, Moira is on edge at the thought of all the things that can go wrong as part of the procedure.
As Matty’s operation begins, Moira lashes out at Victoria, telling her that if anything goes wrong with the procedure then she will hold her responsible.
But while the pair fight, it soon becomes clear that Moira doesnt mean what she is saying and just lashing out because of her worries.
Moira later confesses to Victoria that she was just worried about Matty, and that the thought of losing him has bought back memories of Holly’s death.

But as the pair finally make peace, their worlds are shattered when they spot a nurse racing into the theatre where Matty is being operated on.
