After a rotten year in which Emmerdale‘s Belle Dingle lost both her mum, Lisa, and saw the end of her fledgling romance with Ellis Chapman, she could do with some luck.
But as rumours of a new love for her swirl, it doesn’t look like she’ll have much of it to come as the man in question is her supposed ‘cousin’ Vinny!

Vinny and his ‘mum’ Mandy Dingle have been making enemies since they arrived in the Dales, and recently tried to steal Lydia Hart’s inheritance money, but were caught out and taken to Dingle Court.
During Dingle Court, Mandy told the story of how she scammed her boss, casino owner Terry, twice and got caught out both times.
She tried to explain she simply needed the money to pay off Terry and how she would do anything to keep her son Vinny safe.
Vinny takes a shine to Belle.
But a shock twist came when it was revealed to viewers that Vinny is not Mandy’s son – so who is he?
Although Mandy is desperate to keep the Dingles from finding out Vinny is not related, it looks like his real identity is at risk of being exposed when he starts to fall for Mandy’s cousin, 20-year-old Belle.
Mandy actress Lisa Riley has revealed that it looks like Vinny’s feelings for Belle could cause trouble for the pair…
“I think Mandy is a bit itching to go,” she says.
“But Vinny takes a shine to Belle, as we see, and I’m like, ‘Oh don’t embarrass yourself, come on’, especially with the family not knowing that he’s not blood now as well.”
So they’re not actually related, but Belle doesn’t know that…
Will she allow herself to fall for him too? Or will the affections be one-sided?
And how will she react when she finds out they’re not blood? Although being cousins has never stopped Dingles in the past – just ask Charity and Cain!
Could this ‘incestous’ romance end up being the key to revealing Vinny’s real identity to the rest of the clan?

Belle was starting to fall for Ellis, but he left abruptly last month, leaving the chances of anything happening between them in tatters.
Ellis went to Dubai to stay with his mum, Jessie, indefinitely after his half-brother Billy felt he’d be better off away from his scheming father, Al.
The soap then revealed they had terminated his contract, and Asan issued an apology for his actions.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
