Actor Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle in Emmerdale, has confirmed a long-term split for his alter ego and wife Moira.
Recently Cain found out Moira had been having an affair with farmhand Nate Robinson and in a plot twist, Cain and Moira discovered Nate is actually Cain’s long-lost son.
The storyline has left a massive divide between Moira and Cain and it looks like there’s no way back for their marriage…
When asked if there was a part of Cain that still wanted to fight for their relationship, Jeff said: “Yeah of course.

“There’s a series of scenes where they talk through things Moira and Cain and he really really wants to understand why she did this because he doesn’t understand and he wants to kind of push her and she basically gives him answers but it’s not the answers he wants to hear.”
Discussing the aftermath of the affair in which Cain sleeps with Kerry Wyatt, Jeff explains: “After the explanations from Moira that don’t tell him what he wants to know, he starts to hit self-destruct and Kerry’s in the pub and she’s a bit drunk and just sits down next to him.
“The scenes are funny and charged – it’s nice to have a bit of light relief.
“It’s been great working with Laura because I think the pair of them, Kerry and Cain, from what’s happened in the stories recently, they’re both really damaged and they don’t really care about what’s happening in the world because they want to fight against everything that’s in the world because they don’t care.
“So they have this one-night stand to kind of help them get over what’s been happening to them.”
A one-night stand may help Cain to forget what’s happened with Moira, but his wife soon stumbles across the pair together.
The consequence of this storyline sadly means that Cain and Moira are no more.
However knowing Moira has caught him with another woman doesn’t seem to phase Cain.

Jeff said: “I think he doesn’t care. He’s glad to see her hurt. It pleases him for her to know how he felt.”
Cain’s actions leave Moira believing there is no going back – is this really the end for the couple?
Jeff reckons so, he added: “The consequence of this storyline sadly means that Cain and Moira are no more. And who knows if they will ever get back together?”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
