Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins reveals she didn’t know how to respond to messages from real life rape victims.
Actress Isabel appeared on This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby today to talk about her current storyline in the ITV soap Emmerdale.
Isabel’s character Victoria was raped after a night out with her friends.
In a flashback viewers saw Victoria had met a man named Lee outside the club after it was shut down.
After the pair were kicked out of a taxi together, they walked back to the village where she agreed for him to come in for a coffee.
Things soon took a dark turn when she told Lee to ring for a taxi while she got ready for bed. Lee came into her bedroom and raped Victoria.

Presenter Holly said: “And you’ve had a lot of response from women who have been through this exact thing?”
Isabel responded with “Yes, yeah I couldn’t believe it and they’re so brave for telling me, you know.
“They would say like it was exactly the same situation as Victoria or something very similar and I was like, well one, thank you but I don’t know how to respond to this because I’m pretending and it actually happened to you. So, I just think they’re incredible.”
In the aftermath of Victoria’s attack, she shut herself off from friends and family telling everyone that she had the flu.
Her ex mother-in-law Moira soon realised something wasn’t right and went to check on her friend.
Victoria revealed what happened and she went to the police. She also discovered she was pregnant with Lee’s baby.
She told her step-mother Diane, brother Robert and brother-in-law Aaron what happened and decided she needed to get away.

Robert and Victoria went to France telling her family she had gone to visit a sick relative.
She arrived back in the village in Monday’s episode (May 3 2019) and told her family she had decided to keep her baby.
Last night (May 4 2019) she told friends Marlon, Chas, Charity, Ellis and Matty what happened to her but didn’t reveal her pregnancy.
She was also told by the police that they were unable to take her case further due to insufficient evidence.
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursday at 8pm
