James Moore has hit back at Piers Morgan after he slammed tonight’s all-female episode.
The special is to celebrate International Women’s Day. Not only are the cast all female but also the crew/production team, who work behind the scenes.
On Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain Piers, whilst introducing the guests ex-Emmerdale star Linda Lusardi and journalist Dawn Neesom, Piers said: “So is Femmerdale a bold statement in the fight for equality, or a patronising, virtue signalling gimmick?”

He then went on to say :”Linda, try and explain to me why this isn’t just a load of old virtue signalling, PC-crazed poppycock?”
The Emmerdale actor hit back at Piers on Twitter defending the show.
Big up @piersmorgan for helping spread the word about tomorrow’s episode, featuring an amazing cast and crew of talented, brilliant women. And what’s wrong with that? On #InternationalWomensDay we need to be celebrating women – our mothers, girlfriends, friends 1/2… https://t.co/kl5YG0N2E4

Not getting sensitive about ‘PC culture’. So many women help to make this show amazing and they are people who mean a lot to me and I can assure you, their hard work deserves to be celebrated 2/2

The special episode will follow almost all of the soap’s female characters as they pursue their own individual stories across generations, and producer Kate Brooks recently insisted the episode is a “celebration of women”.
She said: “Our International Women’s Day episode is not only a celebration of women in the broadest sense of the word, but also a showcase for the female talent we have in the television industry.
“We wanted the episode to be character-driven and story-led, exploring all aspects of what it’s like to be a woman in 2019.”
Emmerdale viewers have threatened to boycott the soap and called the episode “sexist”.
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursday at 8pm.
