Louisa Clein, who played Maya Stepney in Emmerdale, has opened up on the “terrifying” moment the Piccadilly Theatre ceiling collapsed.
The actress, who exited the soap earlier this year, was at the venue with her mother when a portion of the ceiling fell during a performance of Death of a Salesman on Wednesday evening (November 6 2019), leaving some audience members hurt.

She tweeted: “Evacuated from the #piccadillytheatre 30 mins into #DeathOfASalesman. Terrifying moment. Sounds like the roof came down…”
She later assured her followers she was unharmed, and added she hopes to “see the rest” of the show at a later date.

The City of Westminster Police confirmed on social media that “everyone” was taken out of the theatre, with “a few people” suffering “minor injuries”.
And the London Fire Brigade added: “Firefighters are attending the Piccadilly Theatre where a section of plaster has fallen from the ceiling during a performance.
“Around 1,100 people evacuated the theatre before we arrived.”
Louisa, 40, left Emmerdale for good in May after her paedophile character Maya was jailed.

Although she hasn’t ruled out a return to the ITV show, she admitted living with her family in London would make things more difficult.
She explained: “Emmerdale is the most amazing place to work. I’ve loved my time on the show but I live in London, my life and my family are in London. It’s hard, who knows.”
