On Wednesday morning (May 22), the-39-year-old actor was invited on the show to reflect on last night’s dramatic episode of Emmerdale, in which he plays David Metcalfe.
Fans saw David’s ex, teacher Maya Stepney, FINALLY arrested after a year of grooming David’s son Jacob Gallagher.
After speaking to host Lorraine Kelly about what the future holds for his character and those affected by Maya‘s evil actions, Matthew chatted about working with his real wife Charley Webb – who plays Debbie Dingle – and his off-screen life as a family man.

Matthew, who is about to become a dad for the third time, revealed that his eldest son Buster had accompanied him to the studio that morning.
He said: “We’ve got two boys, Buster and Bowie, who are nine and three. We’re expecting in about nine weeks’ time. Buster’s with me today somewhere over there.”
As Lorraine called Buster “gorgeous”, the camera quickly panned to the youngster who began to jump up and down enthusiastically, waving at his dad to say hello.
Awwwww.
I’d just like to personally thank everyone today at the @lorraine show. You were all so welcoming to my son Buster, from the cameramen showing him how it all worked to Lorraine herself, getting him on the sofa for a chat. Thank you 🙏🏼

Clearly unafraid of the lights and cameras, Lorraine commented: “That’s a boy destined to follow in his dad’s footsteps.”
To which Matthew joked: “Do you think? He’s not very shy, is he?”
Matthew also revealed that, while he and Charley don’t often appear on-screen together, they recently filmed their first scene together in three years.
After appearing on the show, Matthew thanked the staff on the show via a tweet, saying: “I’d just like to personally thank everyone today at the @lorraine show.
