It’s been two years since Kylie Platt left Weatherfield in a body bag, leaving Corrie fans devastated at the loss of a fan favourite.
And while it’s clear that actress Paula Lane can’t ever return to Coronation Street – unless in the form of a ghost and, let’s be honest, stranger things have happened – she HAS given hope that she’ll return to soaps in the future.

Appearing on Lorraine on Wednesday (29 August), the 32-year-old mother-of-two explained that she’d “definitely” consider another role on a soap.
Promoting her upcoming part in the musical Kinky Boots, Paula also reminisced about her time on the cobbles and admitted she still gets wobbly thinking about her former workplace.
Talking to Rochelle Humes on the popular morning show, she said: “It is emotional to watch and I still hold it close to my heart. I get the tissues out every time I see clips of it.”

Explaining how difficult it was to leave the ITV soap, she added: “The cast, we were a proper family unit… I felt like I had lost my family for a little bit.
“[But] I think it was a natural progression for me. I had played her for six years… I wanted to try other things.”
When asked about the fan base by Rochelle, she said: “I never really had a tricky time with that. I made a conscious decision from the start to make Kylie very different to me. If I was ever in the supermarket I would put on my glasses and hat, just to have an easier life of it really.”
She added: “The lines do get blurred a bit, I have to say. I used to think if I put one of her outfits that I liked, I felt, ‘This is wrong’. I always wanted her to feel really opposite to me.
“I used them to get like smudgy makeup on me, clumpy mascara and really slicked-back hair that I hate on myself. But it is tricky when you are playing that part constantly, they do merge a little bit.”
On leaving the soap, she explained: “When I left, I actually had to say to my husband, ‘I’m just going go upstairs to have a little weep and I’ll be back down as Paula in a minute, ok?’ And he was fine with it.”
And asked if she would consider working on another soap, she replied: “Yes definitely… as long it’s the right role for me.”
Paula joined Corrie in 2010 as the half-sister of Becky McDonald. She left on maternity leave in 2014, before returning in June 2015.
In early 2016, she announced she was pregnant with her second child and confirmed she was planning to leave the soap permanently.
Her character was killed-off in devastating episodes aired the following July.
She died in the arms of husband David after getting stabbed by Callum Logan’s dangerous mate Clayton, just as the couple were preparing to move to Barbados.
In real life, Paula is married to Tom Shaw, also an actor.
