Charity Dingle has been in Emmerdale since March 2000 and has had plenty of partners, but how many times has she actually been married?
She is currently planning a wedding to Mackenzie Boyd after accepting his proposal last year.
Although she had wanted to wait, the death of her abuser Mark Bails has spurred Charity on to seize the day and marry Mack soon.
She has no idea it’s all going to come crashing down as he has got Chloe Harris pregnant.
But if the wedding goes ahead, what number husband will this be for Charity?
How many times has Charity been married in Emmerdale?
Charity has been married three times.
But she’s also had four other attempts at making it down the aisle!
So who were all her husbands – and near misses?
Charity and Chris Tate
In 2001, she married Chris Tate.
Their road to the aisle wasn’t a simple one after she had an affair with his sister, Zoe!
Chris killed himself in 2003 after he discovered Charity had been having an affair with her second cousin Cain Dingle.
Charity and Cain had a relationship as teenagers and he fathered her oldest child Debbie.
Chris toasted to the ‘death of their marriage’ only to then die of his poisoned drink.
He was in fact dying of an inoperable brain tumour, but had wanted to frame Charity for his murder.
Ultimately the plan failed and Charity was freed.
Charity and Jai Sharma
In 2012 she married Jai Sharma.
However, they argued over having more kids: he wanted them, she didn’t.
After Jai had a one-night stand with Rachel Breckle, she fell pregnant.
When Jai’s son Archie was born, it wasn’t long before Charity learnt Jai had cheated on her and filed for a divorce.
Husband No.3: Declan Macey
In 2014, Charity began a relationship with Declan Macey.
It started after she helped him commit insurance fraud and even framed her own cousin, Sam Dingle for arson.
When Charity fell pregnant, she was horrified, but delighted Declan proposed and despite intially turning him down, Charity later accepted.
They wed just weeks later.
However, Declan’s sister, Megan, tried to stop the marriage and after a fight, Charity fell over.
She lied to Declan she’d had a miscarriage. But Megan later discovered she’d had an abortion.
When Declan found out, he began poisoning Charity before taking her away for a cottage break.
Charity discovered he was trying to kill her and a fight to the death on a boat ensued. It was actually Declan’s nephew, Robbie, who was shot with the flare gun and died.
Meanwhile, Declan was presumed dead after Charity hit him with an anchor.
He returned weeks later and held Home Farm hostage, before fleeing.
Charity and Declan divorced off-screen in 2015.
Did Charity ever get married to Cain in Emmerdale?
Charity has also nearly got married a handful of times.
She was going to marry Tom King in 2005.
However Sadie and Cain set Charity up.
As Charity and Cain kissed, a photographer took a picture. Sadie then showed Tom the pictures on the wedding day and he jilted her at the altar.
In 2009, after four years away, Charity returned to the village about to get married to Michael Conway.
But the wedding was interrupted when it was revealed Charity’s daughter, Debbie, was in a relationship with Michael, oblivious to the fact he was marrying her mother!
She also had an on and off relationship with Cain for years.
In 2010 the two were going to get married after he planned a surprise wedding. But Charity was unable to go through with the ceremony, not ready to settle down.
Most recently Charity was engaged to Vanessa Woodfield.
However she cheated on Vanessa with Moira’s brother Mackenzie.
When Vanessa found out, she ended her relationship with Charity.
Who are the fathers of Charity’s children?
Charity has four children and one adopted child.
Her oldest, Debbie, is her daughter with Cain. Charity has a son named Ryan, who was adopted by Irene Stocks when he was a baby.
When Charity was 14 she was raped by DI Bails, who is the biological father of Ryan.
Charity’s second son Noah is the son of Chris Tate and Charity’s youngest son Moses is the son of Ross Barton.
Charity’s adopted son Johnny Woodfield is the biological son of Vanessa and Kirin Kotecha.
