Every soap fan knows that Christmas is HUGE in soapland, but while we’ve been given hints over the last few weeks about what festive offerings we can expect from our favourite shows, here is the latest news from the soap grapevine…
Coronation Street
New Corrie boss Iain MacLeod recently revealed that while he will be making this year’s festive celebrations on the cobbles as ‘Christmassy’ as he can, he also said that there will be a surprise waiting for viewers…
“There will be a big shock at the end of the episode and hopefully it’ll be a surprising pay off to the stories that you’ve seen on screen recently.”
Corrie has revealed a first look at their Christmas episodes and it doesn’t look good for poor Jenny Connor.

Images shared by the soap on social media showed the character in a heap on the floor. After finding out the truth about Johnny and Liz’s fling, could her dramatic collapse be connected to that?
Jack P Shepherd, who is better known as the cobbles’ David Platt, also recently revealed to the Daily Star Sunday that a beloved Corrie character is due to die over the festive period.
The actor told the newspaper: “This year I think someone dies at New Year. It might be someone to do with the Platts! And no, it’s not David’s dog.”

EastEnders
Walford actor Dean Gaffney recently told metro.co.uk that a familiar face will be returning to EastEnders for Christmas.
When asked about what viewers could expect this Christmas Dean revealed: “There is a returnee that will feature heavily in the storylines, because that storyline is why that person is coming back.” Hmm, cryptic!
He also hinted: “The thing about Christmas in EastEnders is it never goes right, so why change a habit of a lifetime?”
As well as mystery characters making a comeback, one face we know is definitely heading back to Walford is Alfie Moon.
With secrets and lies surrounding the Slaters at the moment, it seems Alfie’s return is set to send a bombshell through the family – and what better time to do it than over their turkey dinner?

Emmerdale
New Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson recently promised that we would be hearing wedding bells over the Christmas period.
But while Jane remained frustratingly tight-lipped about who it might be tying the knot, actor Anthony Quinlan, who plays Pete Barton, recently hinted to metro.co.uk that it could be Pete and Rhona Goskirk who become man and wife.
The Emmerdale chief also revealed there could be yet more drama heading for the Dingles following Joe Tate’s death, hinting that two of the family will find their relationship shattered forever.
She admitted: “We have got huge rifts coming up in the Dingle clan that will blow apart two of our most beloved characters, and who knows if they will ever get back to where they used to be?”
