Kathy Beale comes up with a brilliant new business plan in this week’s EastEnders as she plans to spend her new-found fortune on opening Walford’s very own gay bar.
With Ian Beale away, leaving Kathy in charge of the family businesses, you’d think she would have enough on her plate at the moment.
But coming into some money recently has made Kathy think about opening her own business venture instead of just managing her son’s.

EastEnders fans will have seen Kathy become rich over night after discovering the necklace that youngest son Ben gave her last year was worth a small fortune.
Viewers will know that Ben stole the necklace from the ill-fated heist at the start of last year, and gave it to his mum before he departed on a ferry with all the heist money.
But when Chantelle recently questioned where Kathy got such an expensive necklace from, the mum decided to do some research and discovered her jewellery was the real deal.
With Ben still maintaining that he got the necklace from a charity shop, Kathy has no idea that the necklace is stolen goods, and goes ahead with her new plan of buying Kim’s old business, The Albert.
When Kathy questions Ben about his relationship status next week, she is left inspired when he makes a passing comment, and is soon left with food for thought.
With Ben’s words ringing in her ears, Kathy comes up with the idea that Walford is missing its very own gay bar, and that she is going to be the one to open it!
Ben’s stunned when his mum admits she sold the necklace and is going to open a new bar, and news soon spreads that Kathy’s got a new business up her sleeve.
Kim is thrilled when she finds out that her old business is going to be a gay bar and starts offering Kathy lots of advice about what it was like running The Albert.
But there’s just one problem with Kathy opening her own bar… she clearly doesn’t have the first clue about running one!

Deciding she needs help, Kathy enlists Ben and Tina’s help, leaving them surprised at how clueless she really is.
As well as needing to come up with a new name for her bar, Kathy also needs some staff, and she is soon making Tina an offer that she can’t refuse.
But will Kathy’s new business venture be a success, or is this another Beale money-making idea that’s destined to flop?
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
