Mark Jordon allowed ‘to remain on Emmerdale’ after GBH arrest

He's accused of biting a pensioner earlier this year

| Updated:

Mark Jordon will continue to star as Daz Spencer on Emmerdale, despite being charged with GBH and common assault.

The actor, 53, was arrested earlier this year for allegedly biting an OAP.

According to reports, Mark was waiting for bosses to make a decision about his future on the show, but has now been told he can continue to work.

The Sun has revealed that Mark’s job on the ITV soap is safe – for now, at least – while his legal issues are resolved.

A show insider told the newspaper: “Producers have spent a lot of time weighing up what to do about the situation.

“He has been waiting a while for them to make a decision, but they finally told him this week he can continue to appear on screen.”

They continued: “They understand it’s a very serious situation, but they don’t think suspending him will help anything, especially while legal matters are still ongoing.

“Daz has a key part on the Emmerdale farm and they’re hoping he can carry on appearing on the show.”

In July, Mark was charged with GBH after reportedly biting an OAP during a pub brawl in Manchester.

Sixty-seven-year-old Andy Potts was taken to hospital with a facial injury, after rowing with the star over the actor’s daughter Poppy who was also there and seen to be kissing someone.

The victim told the publication in July: “He was like a wild animal.

“He bit me three times and went for my eye.”

Mark was arrested at the scene, but released later as inquiries continued.

He will appear before magistrates in Ashton-under-Lyne next month.

If found guilty, Mark could be looking at dismissal from Emmerdale and even a prison sentence.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester police said: “Jordon is charged with GBH and common assault.”

Emmerdale declined to comment on the matter, when approached by ED!.
