Kate Oates has finally opened up about her plans for EastEnders – including about plans for a supposed bloodbath.
The former Coronation Street producer also helmed Emmerdale and will soon become the first person to control all three of the major British soaps.
And because she has become known for her controversial storyline decisions, fans have been speculating that she is planning a bloodbath to kick off her era in the soap.
She killed off a host of fan-favourite characters while she was in charge of Emmerdale and Corrie.
Her tenure at Corrie was known for darker storylines like Bethany Platt’s grooming ordeal, David Platt’s rape and Pat Phelan’s serial-killing reign of terror.

Over the last year EastEnders has fallen to become the third of the UK soaps in the ratings so it’s hoped Kate will turn it around.
And she has now spoken for the first time about her plans for the show.
She told the Metro: “It’s always been the case that cast members come and go from serial dramas but I’m not a big fan of axing sprees, because I think you have to have faith in the talent you inherit and need to work out the best way to use it.
“I’ve watched shows before when there’s been a mass-clear out, and sometimes you run the risk of changing the landscape so much, the show feels really odd and different for quite a while.
“It’s also not great for morale, which is important to me.
“I’d rather do my best with the existing casts that I’ll be working alongside, and hope that enables them to do their best with stories that feel true to their characters.”
She will also have overall control of medical serial dramas Casualty and Holby City as part of her BBC role which should keep her very busy.
Kate will take over the shows later this month, with her work beginning to be seen on screen around Christmas.
