Richard Blackwood thinks EastEnders should bring back Vincent Hubbard

And fans agree!

Actor Richard Blackwood has revealed he wants EastEnders bosses to bring his character Vincent Hubbard back to Walford.

The 46-year-old actor has made no secret of the fact that he’d love to return to the BBC soap and has previously stated that “the door is open” – despite his character appearing to be killed off.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today (Thursday 3 January), Richard admitted that while he couldn’t confirm whether his alter-ego will ever return to Albert Square, he thinks it would be a “smart move” for the soap to bring back his character.

When asked by hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway if he’ll ever go back to the BBC soap, he answered: “I don’t know. I’ll be honest, I don’t really know. I think it’s a smart move.

“I want to go back. I would go back. I’ve just had a baby on the show… I don’t want to be an absentee dad!”

Richard, who is currently in training for the new series of Dancing On Ice, previously confessed to missing the drama and insisted that he would “happily go back” if he was approached.

He said: “I’m missing it in terms of the good times that I had there and the family I had there.

“But also, I’m happy to watch it from afar and see how it’s developing, but you know I’d always go back there.

“If there is a chance, I’d happily go back. [The door] is slightly ajar, everyone loves a Vincent so I’m happy about that.”

The star also explained that he may have an advantage when it comes to his stint on DOI as he went to an “ice skate school” while growing up in Sweden.

When asked by host Kate whether he could skate or not, he said: “My mum went to live in Sweden when I was three or four years old.

“I used to go to school there and I would ski to school and ice-skate to school.

“I then used to skate every Wednesday and Friday at Streatham ice-rink, that was like the local hangout.”

“So the smart money’s got to be on you, hasn’t it?” Ben Shepherd asked.

Richard replied: “Obviously I want people to vote for me ‘cos I am good, there isn’t a favourite anymore, though. Everyone brought their A-game yesterday. I was the one that stumbled.”

Asked about who his biggest competition is, Richard pointed out that Gemma Collins is secretly very good.
