Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack has hit out at soap bosses for not listening to her about Ronnie Mitchell.
The actress played the businesswoman for more than a decade before bosses at the show decided to kill off the character in a shocking New Year plot.
Ronnie was drowned by her own wedding dress after diving into an indoor swimming pool to save her sister Roxy who had been lost consciousness after jumping in.
She became tangled in her own veil in the gruesome scenes which were widely panned by viewers who were outraged the sisters had been killed off.
And now Samantha has revealed she was left upset when bosses refused to listen to her about her storylines.

She told the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine: “I told the producers that it was all getting too much for Ronnie, going from one trauma to the next.
“I came into acting through theatre, which is a very collaborative process.
“But in EastEnders it’s just a relentless schedule and there isn’t that collaboration.
“I knew Ronnie. I was Ronnie for nine years and there would be so many times when the plot would require her to be more murderous or bad, and I’d say ‘But why does she want to do this?’ and there would be no response apart from, that is your script, that is what you do.”
And soon it became clear that after all Ronnie and Roxy’s huge storylines, bosses felt the need to kill them both off in a shock storyline.
But it left Samantha deeply upset over the treatment of both herself and one of the show’s most beloved characters.

She added: “I didn’t want to leave, I didn’t want her to die.
“I have left it behind but I know Ronnie hasn’t completely gone from me yet.”
