From ShakilÕs shock stabbing in EastEnders, Sinead TinkerÕs cancer ordeal in Coronation Street, super bitch Kim TateÕs return to Emmerdale, a gripping abuse in football story in Hollyoaks and HestonÕs fatal car crash in Doctors, BritainÕs soaps have rarely been out of the headlines this past year. Celebrating another mammoth year in soap opera, the awards will look back on twelve months of murder, mystery, make-ups, break ups, trials, tribulations and tears. A year in which knife crime was tackled in EastEnders with the fatal stabbing of Shakil Kazemi, a serial killer was on the loose in Hollyoaks, Kim Tate returned to Emmerdale, Daniel and Zara split up in Doctors and the factory roof collapsed in Coronation Street. The five biggest soaps - Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks - will be battling it out to win recognition for their work over the past year. Some of the biggest faces from all five soaps will be hitting the red carpet for the most star-studded and glamorous event in the soap calendar. Vibrant yellows and soft pinks stole the show at this year’s British Soap Awards.

It was a huge night for Coronation Street who took home five gongs on the night.

And as ever, Soapland’s finest got their gladrags on to hit the red carpet.

BBC soap EastEnders took home three awards and Gillian Taylforth, who plays Kathy Beale on the soap, also chose a yellow dress for the occasion.

Depsite their disappointment at only taking home two awards – Best Actress for Lucy Pargeter and the Tony Warren Award for Val Lawson – the Emmerdale girls didn’t let it get them down.
