Bernie Wolfe is back in Holby City tonight (Tuesday, February 8) to tell the final part of her story.
The surgeon was last seen in the halls of Holby General in September 2021 after she came back from the dead.
Bernie had been presumed dead for two years prior to her reappearance after the army medic was caught up in a bomb blast.
So what happened to Bernie? How did she survive the attack? And why is she back again?

Who is Bernie Wolfe in Holby City?
Bernie first appeared in Holby in February 2016 as a consultant general surgeon.
She is also the mother of Cameron Dunn and has a daughter named Charlotte.
Bernie is played by Jemma Redgrave.
Bernie began a relationship with Serena Campbell when working at the hospital but the two did eventually split. However, they have since reunited.
What happened to Bernie Wolfe?
In 2018, Bernie left Holby to work in the army.
However the following year, Cameron received news his mum had gone missing in action.
Bernie had been caught up in an explosion at an airport hospital and was believed to have been killed.
Over the years, Cameron began committing crimes. He killed Chloe’s rapist Evan Crowhurst, however when Xavier Duvall found out his involvement and found evidence, he went to take it to police.
Cameron followed Zav, but Zav was hit by cyclist, Bobby Evans. He fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.
Instead of helping, Cameron took Zav’s bag with the evidence and fled. Later Xavier died.
Months later, Bobby was brought into Holby and recognised Cameron from the scene.
Cameron went on to kill Bobby and that’s when Chloe became suspicious of her colleague.
As well as taking the credit for saving patient’s lives that he didn’t save, he has had a hand in the deaths of other patients including Harvey Dean.
Last year, after kidnapping Ange Godard, Cameron was arrested.
Where has Bernie Wolfe been?
As Bernie returned, she explained that after the explosion they found her body armour.
She had been shot during the explosion. Although it was her body armour, the blood they found belonged to her colleague, who died in the explosion.
Bernie explained she had been kidnapped by militia who needed a doctor.
However she was rescued.
Bernie admitted to Cameron that she was rescued a year ago and had been living in Spain with Serena since.
What happened to Bernie the last time she was in Holby?
Cameron was brought back to the hospital from prison for a stent trial. However after escaping he set up a bomb in the hospital’s basement.
After the bomb went off, Bernie desperately wanted to get her son to safety, but insisted he had to hand himself in again.
However, Cameron had no intention of going back to jail and wasn’t planning to escape alive.
He pleaded with him mum to tell him she loved him and she was proud of him. But she faltered.
As the roof collapsed around them, Cameron pushed Bernie out of the way to safety, dying himself.
Bernie visited Cam’s body to say goodbye, before departing to be with Serena again.
Why is Bernie Wolfe returning to Holby?
Bernie comes back after Jason Haynes’ car accident. She visits him, but she’s also keen to see her baby granddaughter Juliet.
She’s horrified to find Nicky has given her away to Eli and Amelia.
Bernie urges Nicky to reconsider, but Nicky insists it’s the right thing for her child.
She blames Bernie for the way Cameron turned out.
Bernie also has a run in with Donna Jackson, who was Xavier’s girlfriend.
