A man who Jeremy Kyle once described as his “favourite guest ever” is jailed for assaulting his wife

Alan Kent threatened to kill himself in police stand-off

Back in February, viewers of The Jeremy Kyle Show were on the edge of their seats as Louise Kent, 26, took a lie-detector test in an attempt to disprove her husband’s accusations that she’d been having an affair.

The husband, 38-year-old Alan Kent, got on swimmingly with Kyle, the presenter gushing: “I love you” and calling Kent his “favourite guest ever”.

However, the story has taken a rather more sinister twist, with Kent now being involved in an armed police stand-off after assaulting his wife.

Kent reportedly threatened to kill himself as police spent hours trying to reason with him.

The couple’s children were also said to be in the house at the time.

A neighbour who witnessed the melée explained how the episode had developed.

“He had an argument with her earlier in the day, and was going on about how she cheated on him,” said Vickie Martin.

“She’d left the house and he was kicking off, shouting out of his windows, saying he’d taken tablets and calling his wife every name you can think of.

“Police were asking him to let his kids out.”

Following the incident, Kent was charged with assaulting his wife and a police constable, and also with obstructing a police constable.

He was jailed for 16 weeks, fined £100 and told to pay £200 in court costs.

Kent was also given a 12-month restraining order.

When the troubled couple appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show, Alan Kent – a Mormon – said of his wife: “I don’t think she’s as religious as I might be.”

He also claimed to have seen her “sneak sexy clothes out of the house”.

Louise went on to FAIL the lie-detector test.

Despite this, the Kents promised that they would work on their relationship.

Following this latest episode, though, that now looks a long way off.
