Those watching the Channel 4 drama were devastated to discover that Missy had died from complications following the terrible car accident.

Just moments before, she had restored her iconic friendship with Nas and viewers were inconsolable.

A third wrote: “I’ve never been so attached to a character and then she gets killed off. Yes I cried. Rest in peace Missy Booth.”

“I’m an emotional wreck,” stated another, and others were angry and swore not to watch again without their favourite character.

In fact, so many people jumped on social media to express their shock and dismay at Missy’s passing, that the TV show was trending on Twitter.

Viewers will have to wait and see how Nas copes without her best friend by her side.

Actress Poppy Lee Friar, who played Missy, also posted a message on the social media platform, thanking fans for their support.

She said: “A massive thank you to all you Missy fans! I had a great big fluffy pink adventure on #AckleyBridge and will always remember it alongside @AmyLHickman the yin to my yang, beautiful on screen family @codyryxo @sampower_sam and all the cast and crew. So grateful. Keep watching!”
