Alison Hammond previously shared how she managed to avoid putting on weight while working on The Great British Bake Off.
The telly fave – who is back co-hosting the new series of the Channel 4 show today (October 12) – has undergone a weight loss transformation in recent months.
In September, Alison admitted she was at her heaviest at 28 stone. In a bid to turn things around, Alison managed to lose 11 stone, following a change in her diet and intense workout routines.
And it turns out, Alison made a key change while filming the latest series of The Great British Bake Off, amid her fitness journey.
Alison Hammond gained weight on Bake Off
Earlier this year, Alison revealed she “put on a stone” after last year’s series of The Great British Bake Off. According to MailOnline, Alison said it “took a year” to lose the weight she gained while filming.
She said: “But I love that show for the cake. People don’t realise I am literally there for the cake. After every bake you’re allowed to taste every bake and last year I put on a stone. It’s taken me a year to take that stone off.”
Alison Hammond reveals trick to maintain weight
However, for this year’s series, Alison has made a big change, in a bid to stop her from piling on the pounds amid her fitness journey.
Speaking to MyWeekly magazine, Alison said: “Instead of eating the whole amount, I had little tastes here and there. I was quite good. I only had it when Paul [Hollywood] did a handshake.”
Noel on Alison eating cake
Meanwhile, Alison’s co-host Noel Fielding has also opened up about Alison trying to resist the baked delights on the show.
“She tried to eat less this year but Alison’s quite childlike,” he told The Guardian. Noel added: “She said: ‘Noel, stop me eating cake, I want to be good.’ The next time I saw her, she was literally like [he mimes eating cake]. Alison has a good time all the time. You don’t want her to not be eating the cakes.”
Alison Hammond had gastric band
Like a number of celebs, This Morning host Alison underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2014. However, her body rejected it and she only kept it for two years after struggling to “keep down one bite of food”.
In an extract from her autobiography, You’ve Got To Laugh, Alison said: “I was sick a lot. I couldn’t keep anything down. It was really distressing, I felt as if my body was rejecting the foreign entity inside me and I began to get ill.
“I kept it for two years, until it was getting to the point where I couldn’t even keep down one bite of food. ‘I can’t take this anymore,’ I thought, miserably.”
Watch Alison on The Great British Bake Off on Saturday (October 12) at 3:30pm on Channel 4.
