Blackpool’s finest Jenna Coleman looks set to give her serious acting chops a good stretching in The Cry, set to begin on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday September 30.
The Victoria star caused a bit of a stir with fans when she went blonde for the taxing role earlier this year.
But as set images illustrate, there’s zero chance of this blonde having any fun in the harrowing psychological drama.
Former Emmerdale favourite Jenna, 32, leads a heavyweight cast for the TV adaptation of the novel by Helen Fitzgerald.
And it seems the emotional abduction thriller could lead to some serious award nominations for the ex Doctor Who actress, with the Beeb positioning The Cry as central to their upcoming drama offerings.

What’s The Cry all about?
Joanna (Jenna) and her husband Alistair (Ewen Leslie) travel with their baby from Scotland to Australia to see Alistair’s mother, Elizabeth (Gonet) and to fight for custody of Alistair’s daughter Chloe (Kavenagh) against his Australian ex-wife Alexandra (Keddie).
However, when they arrive in Australia, Joanna and Alistair are forced to face an unthinkable tragedy that changes their lives and their marriage forever.
It is the catalyst for a journey into the disintegrating psychology of a young woman, exposing the myths and truths of motherhood.

Who’s in the cast of The Cry and where have you seen them before?
As mentioned, Jenna Coleman is a familiar face on TV thanks to her stints on Doctor Who, Emmerdale and Victoria.
But the star has also appeared in Waterloo Road, TV miniseries Titanic and period murder mystery Death Comes to Pemberley.
Her telly work has earned her three National Television Award and four British Soap Award nominations.
Aussie actor Ewen Leslie‘s film credits include Cannes Film Festival standouts Jewboy and Sleeping Beauty.
He delivered an award-winning performance as Pyke, the lawyer husband of Nicole Kidman’s character, in Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake.
The 37-year-old – who plays Alistair in The Cry – has also been tipped to be the next big thing from Down Under in Hollywood.
Dubbed the Golden Girl of Australian television, Asher Keddie plays Alexandra – the ex wife of Alistair – in The Cry.
As well as having a prolific career on Aussie telly since 1985, Asher also had a supporting role as Dr. Carol Frost in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Stella Gonet is immediately recognisable from her appearances in The House of Eliott and Holby City.
She has also starred in The Crown and The Crow Road.
Esteemed stage actress Stella plays Elizabeth in The Cry.

The Cry’s director is Glendyn Ivin, who previously worked with Ewen Leslie on Australian miniseries Safe Harbour.
Jacquelin Perske has adapted Helen Fitzgerald’s devastating 2013 novel for television.
Her previous work includes creating and writing Love My Way and Spirited, as well as writing episodes of Seven Types of Ambiguity.
