It’s awards season again, and the 2025 Golden Globes was certainly full of it’s own drama.
All our favourite celebrities gathered for a night of celebrating 2024’s greatest film and TV achievements. And before the night even started it was already a huge deal.
Nikki Glaser hosted the 82nd year, making her the first-ever solo female host in Golden Globes history. And while she did an amazing job, there were many other moments that became the talk of the internet.
From Kathy Bates’ weight loss and Kylie Jenner’s snogging to a possible engagement announcement, here’s everything you need to know.
Kathy Bates sparks concern at 2025 Golden Globes
While presenting an award, fans quickly grew concerned for Kathy Bates‘ appearance after her drastic weight loss.
Taking to social media, one wrote: “Is Kathy Bates ill?” Another added: “What is going on with Kathy Bates? Is she okay?”
A third penned: “Hope Kathy Bates is okay. Did anyone else notice that her entire body was shaking and she had to hold onto her co-presenter to steady herself?”
This was hard work for me.
The concern comes after Kathy opened up on her use of weight-loss drug Ozempic.
Over the past seven years, Kathy has dropped a total of 80lbs after focussing on a healthier lifestyle. She then lost an extra 20lbs after using Ozempic.
During an interview with People in October, she hit back at claims her weight loss was purely due to the drug.
She said: “There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic. But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.”
Cate Blanchett’s outfit repeat
As with any awards do, the red carpet acted as a fashion show. All the stars usually team up with a designer to bring them a new look for each ceremony. So when the legendary Cate Blanchett appeared, fans were shocked to see her in the exact same dress she wore to the Cannes Film Festival a few months ago.
However, one thing she did change was the hairstyle, opting to have her short bob on display last night. One fan wrote: “One woman. One dress. Two killer looks. Oh Cate Blanchett!” “Cate Blanchett did it again,” another fan posted.
Whether she didn’t think anyone would notice, or simply wanted to rewear a dress, we don’t know. But she looked amazing doing so. Sadly, however, the same couldn’t be said for everyone who attended.
Worst-dressed celebs at the Golden Globes
Succession star Jeremy Strong’s outfit was likened to Paddington Bear.
Wicked star Cynthia Erivo opted for a bizarre monochrome gown with an expanse of excess fabric jutting out from her hips.
Nicole Kidman rarely puts a style foot wrong, but her silver gown left her looking washed out. Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez, meanwhile, wore pale blue Prada, but the very formal style aged her way beyond her years.
2025 Golden Globes: Zoe Saldana’s ‘cringe’ stage moment
One moment which has been branded ‘cringe’ by fans was when Zoe Saldana crashed the stage. The actress had already landed her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress – Musical or Comedy for her film Emilia Perez. It was an accolade that saw her wiping away tears.
However, when El Mal from the film won Best Original Song, composers Camille Audiard and Clement Ducol headed to accept their award. But Zoe jumped up and headed to get to the stage before them.
She then took the award from the presenters, seemingly hoping to do a sweet handover to Camille and Clement. But the presenter intervened and took it back so he could hand it to the winners himself.
Instead of heading back to her seat, Saldana remained onstage while an emotional acceptance speech was given.
One fan wrote: “Why is Zoe Saldana on the stage? I know her movie won (and I do like her) but she needs to sit down.” Another added: “I get that was supposed to work out differently, but Zoe’s actions were a bit too cringe.”
“She took the focus off the winners in what should have been their moment,” a third penned.
Demi Moore gets her first Golden Globe
Demi Moore proved that age is no barrier when it comes to talent, as the 62-year-old actress received her first ever Golden Globe award – despite having a five-decade career.
When she took to the stage to accept the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Film, she got emotional.
Fighting back tears, Demi admitted: “Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress and at the time, I took this to mean that this wasn’t something I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money. But that I couldn’t be acknowledged.”
Kylie Jenner puts break-up rumours to bed
One of the biggest talking points of 2024 was Kylie Jenner’s relationship with actor Timothee Chalamet. But over the last few months, the couple were hit with break-up rumours. However, last night’s ceremony proved they are stronger than ever.
While Kylie didn’t walk the red carpet, she took a seat next to her beau for the ceremony. During the rare outing, the pair were spotted sharing a kiss as Timothee rested his hands on her back.
The Golden Globes seem to now be an annual date night for the pair, as they sent the internet wild last year with an appearance together.
Zendaya flashes a diamond ring at 2025 Golden Globes
One of the most significant talking points of the evening is that Zendaya seemed to confirm she and Spiderman himself, Tom Holland, are engaged.
The Hollywood actress flaunted a gorgeous diamond ring, and throughout the evening seemed to attract a flock of celebs who wanted to see it up close.
And for more evidence, eagle eyed fans noticed that she changed all of her other rings when she swapped into her after party outfit – except for the diamond.
One fan wrote: “The best thing about the 2025 Golden Globes is finding out Zendaya and Tom are engaged.”
Another added: “Zendaya announcing their engagement by wearing her ring to the Globes. Iconic behaviour.”
