After being branded a bully by some viewers as he was voted off I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! boxer Amir Khan has shown his softer side, by donating a portion of his £300,000 fee to charity.
The boxer was the seventh contestant to be eliminated from the show, narrowly missing out on being one of the final four.

As he left the show, Amir admitted to letting fellow contestant Iain Lee take the heat for the pair’s joint misdeeds – after the swiped strawberries that were meant to be shared among the cast.
Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec during his exit interview, Amir confessed to letting the rest of the contestants assume Iain was the mastermind behind the strawberry theft.
“I was scared!” he said of the incident. “Iain, when he came into camp, he didn’t have the best reputation, the way he acted and split the camp up, so they would never have expected me to ever do that.”
But once he was safely out of the jungle he owned up to his part in the scandal, saying “But I put my hand up, I did do it. But Iain provoked me to do it, he pushed me to do it.”
His confession did not go down well with viewers, with many claiming he effectively encouraged his cast mates to bully Iain, while escaping the blame himself.
But now that he’s out of the cutthroat I’m a Celeb world, Amir seems to be redeeming himself, generously donating a portion of his fee to Barnardo’s – a charity he’s supported for years.
Amir took home a reported £300,000 for his appearance on the show – the second highest I’m a Celeb fee ever, after Katie Price in series 9.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Barnardo’s chief executive, Javed Khan, expressed his gratitude for the boxer’s generous donation.
“I am very grateful to Amir Khan for this fantastic gift and his continued support as an ambassador for Barnardo’s,” Javed said, “which helps thousands of vulnerable children, young people, carers and parents every year.
“It’s exactly the generosity of people like Amir that make it possible for us to provide our network of vital services across the length and breadth of the UK. We wish Amir well in the jungle and will follow his progress.”
