Now this is music to our ears – Andy Sugden is hot favourite to be the ‘surprise appearance’ expected to pop up in Emmerdale over Christmas.
The big boss at the Dales, Iain MacLeod, recently teased what the Christmas Day ep will involve.
He’s already said that it will revolve around Robert Sugden and so the idea that it could be Andy that will pop up is well and truly cemented in our head.

Speaking to Radio Times recently, Iain explained: “We have a massive episode that’s a mixture of Groundhog Day and A Christmas Carol.
“It’s nightmarish, but also really funny. Essentially, it’s Robert’s episode, but Aaron will play a major part in it.”
Iain previously said of the Christmas episodes: “It is probably the weirdest episode that we have ever done, and given that we have done some pretty weird episodes, that’s saying something.
“But I think it’s really entertaining and dramatic, and it’s got a surprise cameo in it.
“It is stylistically a bit weird and romantic.”
Last week, Inside Soap mag, reported that actor Kelvin Fletcher – who played Andy – had been spotted at the Emmerdale set with his little daughter, Marnie.
Was he just there to introduce the one-year-old to his former friends and colleagues?
Or could he have been doing some super-secret filming for that Christmas episode? We can’t wait to find out.
Andy is on the run from the village after Chrissie White framed him for shooting her dad, Lawrence.
We all know Lachlan was the one who did it – and actually so do the cops seeing as Lachlan has since served time for it.
So the door is well and truly open for Andy to return.
And there has been loads of speculation about the character making a comeback. The White family are soon to be history, so there’s no better time for it.
It doesn’t look like Kelvin has any plans to come back full time though as he’s enjoying spending time with Marnie and his wife, Elizabeth.
He also recently had to laugh off claims that he’d quit acting to become a racing driver after several papers reported his apparent career change.
Taking to Twitter earlier this month, Kelvin said: “Just to be crystal clear. I’ve not ‘given up acting’. What is so hard to understand? I’m an actor and I’m a racing driver. The two are completely separate and neither one dictates the other.”

So he’s still saying he’s an actor then – this gives us hope!
Speaking about his racing driver career, Kelvin told The Mirror: “I’ve signed professional contracts. It’s certainly snowballed and it’s a dream come true. I was lucky because sponsors were willing to back me because of my profile.”
