BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker apologies to Susanna Reid after he ‘misread her intentions’

And of course Piers Morgan has waded in!

Breakfast TV presenter Dan Walker has apologised both publicly and privately to his Good Morning Britain rival Susanna Reid after he ‘misread her intentions’.

The apology comes after Susanna, 48, wrote a newspaper column in which she discussed the cattiness between male presenters – especially between her GMB colleague Piers Morgan and BBC Breakfast rival Dan.

In her column for the Daily Mail, Susanna referenced Piers and Dan’s frequent spats on Twitter, and addresses the idea that female TV presenters aren’t the catty ones.

Dan took offence to the article, tweeting this reply to Susanna: “Interesting. With the greatest respect @susannareid100 the insults that make you ‘shudder’ only really come one way.

“I enjoy the friendly competition with your programme. It keeps us all on our toes and normally stays within the bounds of gentle fun. See you soon.”

He also recommended she speak to some of his female colleagues before “suggesting [he] ever puts colleagues down or is not supportive”.

Susanna hit back by Tweeting: “I didn’t for a moment suggest this.

“My reference to you was solely in relation to how you and Piers speak to each other online.”

In turn, Dan wrote: “I greatly respect @susannareid100 and it appears I may have misread her intentions in this article and for that I apologise – as I have done privately too.

“Support of colleagues is a particularly sensitive issues at the moment and one I take seriously. I hope you all have a lovely day.”

And what did Piers himself have to say about all this kerfuffle?

He tweeted: “You disingenuous, over-sensitive little snowflake.

“Man up and own your regular insults.”
