Ben Shephard’s beard sparks debate on Good Morning Britain

He said his wife has no complaints

There was a hot topic of conversation on today’s Good Morning Britain – Ben Shephard’s beard.

The presenter’s co-host Ranvir Singh brought up the subject saying she’d been confronted by people in the street over Ben’s unshaven appearance.

She said: “Can I tell you something that is important to the nation? A lovely couple came up to me at the weekend and talked to me for about ten minutes about Ben Shephard’s beard!

“Both of them said, ‘he’s such a handsome man and we switch on the telly in the morning and are shocked. He always looks much smarter on Tipping Point’.”

Ranvir told Ben: “They are massive fans of yours but the beard is offending people!”

“And my mum!” a laughing Ben admitted.

He added he had good reasons for not shaving it off.

He said: “My mum’s not happy but the only person who really matters is Mrs S and she quite likes it.

“Till Mrs S gets fed up it stays, plus I’m getting really lazy!”

Ranvir replied: “You old romantic!”

The 42-year-old’s look also divided viewers on Twitter, with some urging Ben to get rid of the beard and others saying they thought it made him look handsome.

Ben has been working extra hard over half-term filling on for Phillip Schofield on This Morning at the start of the week and then taking up his usual post on GMB on Thursday and Friday.
