BGT viewers disagree with judges over weird harp act

Ursula basically 'got off with' her instrument

| Updated:

Things took a strange turn early in this evening’s Britain’s Got Talent, with a truly bizarre audition.

When softly spoken Ursula Burns, 48, from Belfast, appeared on screen alongside her harp, it seemed that we’d be in for a classical music performance.

But seconds into Ursula’s routine, viewers were subjected to something quite different.

The musician lay down and seductively played the harp as she sang Snow Patrol’s ballad Chasing Cars.

And then she began to – excuse us –  basically hump the instrument, as the audience and judges looked on agog.

And the panel LOVED it.

One judge was particularly intrigued by the performance – and perhaps even a little bit jealous.

“This lady is barking mad in the best way possible. She’s getting off with a harp, and I need to get me some of that!” judge Alesha Dixon remarked.

She then hastily added: “No, I’m joking!”

Veteran judge Simon Cowell added: “God. That, I’ve got to tell you, don’t judge a book by its cover.”

However, he went on to say that he’d enjoyed it and Ursula looked delighted as she was given a chorus of ‘yes’.

Not all viewers were so seduced by the performance, though…

One was aghast that Ursula got a standing ovation for “humping a harp”.

Another worried that the judges were losing their minds…

A third echoed the feelings of many, incredulous that all four judges had put the harpist through to the semis…

One even felt it was wrong to show it pre-watershed.
